Post-project update

Numericanal formally ended in December 2015. The final period saw a mix of physical works to deliver the final version of Apps and the Control Centre infrastructure through to production of the main output; the Control Centre Common Model.

Summary report published

A summary of the key achievements, outputs and innovations of the project has just been published. Our three and a half year EU funded project exploring the use of new technology on inland waterways has shown the growing potential for mobile applications to help manage Europe's canals.

Safe boating app launched

Numericanal partners have been working on ICT solutions to improve safety on the water for leisure boaters. This has led to the development of an app, designed to be used on mobile phones and tablets, in which the movements of commercial vessels are shown in real time.

New safety app Safeguider

The new app Safeguider guides boaters and skippers in a safe way through busy intersections on the inland waterways in France, the UK and the Netherlands. It also helps them to report any incident, accident or 'near miss' that they have witnessed or been involved in while visiting or using waterway sites in these countries.
